Saddest Anime Death

Hi, hi! Welcome to day 25 of the Anime Challenge! Today’s topic is: Saddest Anime Death!

Okay, this one is the hardest one so far because I don’t want to seem heartless by thinking one death is more sad than another. There are also plenty of anime deaths that I have yet to see.

The first anime death that comes to my mind that hit me super hard though is Ushio Okazaki from Clannad.

It was sad enough to see Nagisa die, but to see Ushio as a young child die was absolutely traumatizing.

I expected to see Nagisa die in the series once I learned of her illnesses. It’s something that happens often enough in anime but you don’t often see a child die like that. I ugly cried so hard for so long after that.

Even though, in the anime, no one died permanently, there were more than one depressing deaths. There was Fuko Ibuki, there was Yukine Miyazawa’s brother, Kotomi’s parents, Nagisa and Ushio.

For a slice of life anime that I expected to be more school oriented, Clannad made me cry a lot.

What was the saddest anime death for you? Let me know here or on facebook!

Favorite Goofy Character

Hi, hi! Welcome to day 21 of the Anime Challenge! Today’s topic is: Favorite Goofy Character!

There are lots of simple, comedic or even dramatic anime that have goofy characters. My favorite, though, comes from a more serious anime. It’s a slice of life anime that’s pretty simple but has it’s sad moments as well.

My favorite goofy character has to be Ibuki Fuko from Clannad.

Fuko has a pretty depressing back story. Despite this though, she remains cheerful and happy. She’s a bit ditsy which makes her super fun and silly though.

I can relate to Fuko on a certain level too. Her love for starfish is on par with my love for maids. Wait, did someone say maids?

Fuko’s theme also helps bring to life her personality and humor.

Seriously, though, how could anyone resist a cute ‘magical’ starfish girl who does the ‘Thriller’ dance and refers to herself in third person?!

Fuko may be a silly or goofy character in my opinion but that doesn’t stop her from being a great friend as well. She is generous and does her best to make the people she loves most happy.

Now that I’m thinking back on it, I can’t think of a character in Clannad that I don’t like! I’ve written about Furukawa Nagisa, Fujibayashi Kyou, and Furukawa Akio. My first tattoo was even a Clannad one!

Which anime character is your favorite ‘goofy’ character? Let me know here or on facebook!

Favorite Male Character

Hi, hi! Welcome to day 3 of the anime challenge! Today’s topic is: Favorite Male Character!

This one is actually really difficult for me because I don’t really relate to any of the male characters or have never found any of them interesting enough to go out of my way to talk about.

The hardest part about these challenges though is that when I find them, they don’t come with any rules? Do traps even count!?

Okay, so I would say my favorite male anime character is one that’s not in high school like a good amount of anime characters out there. He’s actually a father, though he may not look like it. It’s Furukawa Akio from Clannad!

SPOILERS AHEAD

Akio is so many things. He’s energetic, a loving husband and father, encouraging, funny, a great baker, an actor and much more.

He did everything to encourage Nagisa to pursue her dreams.

However, not only did he encourage his daughter to pursue her dreams, he was also there as a father figure to Fuuko, Tomoya and Ushio.

The relationship he has with his wife, Sanae,  is just amazing as well. They get along so well and are just so adorable to watch. He is willing to eat her bread no matter how horrible it tastes just to show his love for her.

And of course, who could ever forget, he’s the MC Akio!

Who is your favorite male anime character? Let me know here or on facebook! Thanks for reading!

Waifu Wednesday – Kamikita Komari

Hi, hi! Welcome to another Waifu Wednesday! Today, I decided to post about one of my favorite characters from Little Busters! Komari Kamikita. I adore Komari for many different reasons. She is sweet, an amazing friend, loves sweets, she’s adorable and so much more! (I even ran a Komari Kamikita page on facebook as well and I used that as an admin tag on the Key Studios Community page on facebook when I was still an admin there! If you are a fan of the works that Key does such as Clannad, Air, Kanon, Little Busters!, Planetarian, Rewrite and Angel Beats! You should go check out those pages! ^_^)

I won’t say too much though because I don’t want to give away too much about the series/visual novel. I will say this though, I have a list of anime characters that I feel make amazing friends to other characters and she is one of them!

Waifu Wednesday – Furukawa Nagisa

Hi, hi! Welcome to another Waifu Wednesday! Today’s waifu is Furukawa Nagisa from the visual novel and anime Clannad.

**This post may contain affiliate links. You can find the disclosure policy here.**

Okay, I loved all the characters in Clannad but what I love most about Nagisa is the fact that she’s plain, which is kind of rare in anime. She doesn’t have strange colored hair, nor is it some odd hair style, her intelligence in school is average, she’s not super popular. She reminds me a lot of myself in high school actually.

It was actually because of this that when I chose to get my first tattoo it was of Nagisa. Not because she was my favorite character exactly, but because she is simple and it was a great way to also show my love for the anime art style over all.

This is a really old photo, right after I got it but I still really love it 🙂

Waifu Wednesday- Fujibayashi Kyou

Hi, hi! Welcome to another Waifu Wednesday! Today’s waifu is Fujibayashi Kyou from the visual novel and anime Clannad!

**This post may contain affiliate links. You can find the disclosure policy here.**

I honestly didn’t like Kyou very much in the beginning. I liked her a bit more as the anime went on. Then after I watched her special episode and played her route in the visual novel, I fell in love with her. She’s fantastic! I would say she’s the character that got me to like the Tsundere style character more. Her theme is also super upbeat and fun.

Welcome to Doki-Doki Otaku

Welcome to Doki-Doki Otaku! Here you will find reviews of anime, graphic novels, books and video/mobile games from me as well as play throughs for video games and possibly episode by episode updates of anime as I watch them!

I decided to start up this blog so that I could share my opinions on certain things with the world. I am by no means a professional writer or blogger. This is solely for fun.

First, though, a little about myself. I am a stay at home mother to one. (Anime mom, weird right?) I have been enjoying anime almost my entire life, starting with Sailor Moon (that original English dub that everyone thought was terrible!) and quickly branching out to things like the Tenchi series and Miyazaki’s movies. My favorite anime genres are harem and slice of life but that does not mean that I limit myself to only these genres. I can’t really say that I have one specific favorite anime but some of my favorites include: Clannad, Lucky Star, Toradora, and Death Note.

My video game playing days came shortly before my anime watching days, however, and I started off with Super Mario World on the SNES. I prefer JRPGs and RPGs but I play other games as well. My favorite games include Chrono Trigger, Final Fantasy VIII, Super Mario World and Harvest Moon 64. More recently though, I’ve been playing Pokemon Ultra Sun, Destiny 2, Final Fantasy XIV, Overwatch and Splatoon 2.

As for manga, I didn’t start reading manga until later on in high school, probably halfway through my junior year. The reason for this is that it was not readily available to me. However, I was lucky enough to have a few friends who let me borrow volumes of manga that they owned. Now I own several boxes full of manga myself.

I hope that you will enjoy my posts as much as I will enjoy creating them!
And remember, everyone has a little otaku in them!
