Net Neutrality (It’s a Big F–ing Deal!)

Hi, hi! First off, for my post today, I would like to say that I’m not usually political unless it’s around very close friends and family. However, with the United States FCC (Federal Communications Commission) upcoming plan to end Net Neutrality, which goes up for FCC vote in early December, I feel this post is very important. If this were to pass, it would affect not only the United States of America but every other country as well.

Net Neutrality

What is it?

Net Neutrality means that ISPs (Internet Service Provider) and the governments have to regulate most of the internet without discrimination. This also means that they are not allowed to specifically charge users different rates for accessing content, websites, platforms, applications, means of communication, etc. So, ISPs are not allowed to block, slow down or charge money for access to specific websites and content.

There have been many instances of providers being caught restricting users access to things like that company’s rivals and throttling, which means it was being slowed, when users tried to use things like Netflix and YouTube.

What Getting Rid of Net Neutrality Means

The possibility of losing Net Neutrality means that ISPs would have the ability legally to block any websites or content that they don’t want their users to have access to, it would hurt competition because content and applications advertising an ISPs rival can easily be blocked, and the internet could even be split up into packages much like television packages. Basically, pay to access specific sites.

Why It Should Matter To You

Internet Service Providers could potentially be able to do all of the above which would already hurt competitors of companies, but when you really dig down and think about it, it can do so much worse.

Let’s toss aside the whole “internet packages” idea for a moment and just focus on ISPs blocking ability. Let’s say you’ve got an important paper due for University and you have already picked your topic but you need some info that you can only access online. If it’s something controversial or something your ISP doesn’t like, you won’t be able to access it.

Hurting students isn’t an arguement for keeping Net Neutrality that I’ve seen yet but just looking at all of the powers that this could potentially give ISPs, it seems very realistic.

Going back to the “internet packages” idea, another issue I foresee is that it would absolutely crush people who run any kind of business online. Take for instance; you work at a job, it’s enough to pay your bills but you can only afford one internet package and you opt to go with one that, say, lets you communicate with your family and friends but doesn’t include something like Etsy. Those people running things like Etsy shops would be out of a job quickly.

There’s already an unemployment issue in the United States. It’s gone down a lot in recent years, but take away the ability for people to be able to reach out and sell their products to anyone in the world and so many people would be out of a job. That idea doesn’t even apply solely to the US. I’ve seen many UK run Etsy shops while browsing the site. Take away their business from many Americans and those people have also lost out on income that they’ve worked hard for.

That’s just a smaller portion of it. Eventually it would start to affect singers and actors/actresses as well for the same reasons. People would stop listening to music because the streams would be slow or blocked and people would stop watching a lot of television and movies because things like Netflix would be throttled.

If an ISP is able to block things they dislike, that easily opens the pathway for companies to exercise an agenda and become a lot more involved and more manipulative politically than they already are.

The most important reason why it matters, however, is that it scraps the United States First Amendment.

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

Restricting access to online content throws out freedom of speech and freedom of the press because if an ISP doesn’t like it, they just block it. It’s as  simple as that. With the US being a country that thrives of patriotism and being a “free country”, allowing something like this to happen would quickly make this country oppressed.

Ways in which this could be used to infringe upon first amendment rights specifically could include things like allowing the government to control and silence political activism in non-violent ways. They would be able to do it quietly, behind closed doors with no one there to record what is going on. Even if someone were to do that, they could just block that as well.

It could be used to allow politicians with more power and money to hide the websites and articles that are pro their opponent as well as allowing them to be able to just hide any viewpoints or opinion articles that they don’t like or agree with.

There is already a monopoly on internet services as it is. In many places you can be limited to just a few choices and sometimes there is only one option for an ISP. Letting them have even more power would just be ludicrous.

What Can I Do About it?

Over and over I’ve heard:

I don’t need to vote. My vote doesn’t matter.

I don’t need to contact my representative, they don’t care anyway.

But here’s the thing, whether or not they care about a person or a person’s ideals specifically, they all care about THE VOTES! If a representative gets enough calls or emails telling them that the people they’re representing do not want them to get rid of Net Neutrality, they’re eventually going to listen because they want to keep their position. Piss enough people off and you get voted out.

This not only applies to your representatives but to organizations as well. If they are nagged enough they know that people are willing to fight back and it could also potentially compromise an organization or company’s ability to gain assistance or get what they want passed through congress.

So, what you can do as an American to stop this is to rally, spread the word, make phone calls or send emails to your representatives. Educate your friends and family on the issues and encourage them to do the same.

What you can do as a non-American is spread the word on social media, it will make its way to where it needs to be seen, if you have friends in America, show your concern and encourage them to contact their representatives.

If Net Neutrality gets voted out and these ideas are implemented, I could potentially lose contact with many of my overseas friends and that is NOT OKAY!

You can voice your opinion to the FCC at this number: 888-225-5322. So please, if you care about anything online like bloggers, youtubers, social media, your favorite artist, etc. Please take just a few minutes out of your day to make a call or send an e-mail. Thank you so much for sticking through this long post! If we all work together, we can save Net Neutrality!

Doki Doki Crate

Hi, hi! I recently ordered a Doki Doki Crate from This wasn’t the first crate I’d ordered from them. Back in December I’d ordered their special Christmas crate which included a Japan Crate which is filled with Japanese snacks, a few things from the Doki Doki Crate (cute/kawaii items) and the Kira Kira Crate (beauty products). I believe it had a few things from the Umai Crate as well which is all about the noodles!

Anyway, I got an email for $5 off so I said ‘why not?’

Oh man, when I received it the first thing I noticed was that it was packed so full the top of it was bulging! That got me super hyped!

Fun Fact: Kumamon is the mascot for Kumamoto Prefecture

This cute little Kumamon pitcher was the first thing I saw. I am so thankful for it too as I had just recently decided that I needed to drink so much more water and now I can keep this right next to me at my desk! It even goes perfectly with this next item…

Next up was this absolutely adorable strawberry shaped tea infuser! YES! I actually recently bought a bunch of teas and this will make my life so much easier! <3 I mean come on, if you love tea, you’d want a super cute infuser, right?

Okay, I couldn’t help myself after those two items. I had to reach in and see how adorable this blanket was going to be. According to the booklet that comes with the crate it was going to be 1 of 6 different animals: owl, panda, frog, duck, llama and sheep. I got the sheep…I think xD Either way, it’s still super soft, super warm and super kawaii!

After that were these two super cute Kumamon micro fiber towels. They’re both the same, just one is outlined in blue and the other in pink. 🙂 I’m not sure if I’ll actually use these because they’re really cute and I’d hate to get them dirty 🙁

How cute is this Hoppe-chan at home key chain!? I’m always looking for more key chains to add to my key ring and I think this will fit in perfectly with all of my others!

Okay, so one of the main reasons I ordered this was because I saw there was supposed to be a Kiki’s Delivery Service item in the box and I have to admit, this is an adorable toothbrush but I was a bit disappointed when that was the item. 😦

The last item was this super cute Hello Kitty toothbrush holder! I am absolutely using this one! I’ve been looking for a good replacement for mine and haven’t been able to find any I like so this was just perfect!

Based upon this, I was very satisfied with what I received and kept my subscription for October! I’m hoping it will be filled with lots of super cute Halloween goodies!

Do you guys get any subscription boxes? If so, which ones? If not, which ones would you ever want to try? Let me know here or on facebook! Thanks for reading!

Happy Miku Day! 3/9

Hi, hi! Today is known as Miku Day because 3 (さん-san) and 9 (く-Ku, or きゅう-Kyuu) can be joined together to spell ‘Miku’ or ‘Sankyuu’ which sounds a bit like ‘Thank you’.

In honor of Miku Day, I will share a few of my favorite Hatsune Miku  songs and products with you!

**This post may contain affiliate links. You can find the disclosure policy here.**

(Some of them will be with other Vocaloids as well ^^ and there will be a mix of happy and sad songs)

                1. Hatsune Miku (初音ミク) – Chocolat
                2. 【Hatsune Miku English】Goodbye【Vocaloid Song】

                3. Hatsune Miku – Personality Complex (ペルソナリティ・コンプレックス)

                4. 【Luka & Miku】 Suki Kirai 【VOCALOIDカバー】

                5. 【Miku & Luka】 Futariboshi 【VOCALOIDカバー】

                6. Hatsune Miku, Megurine Luka, Samune Zimi – Reboot
                  (Oh My feels ;~;)

There are quite a few Hatsune Miku games out there as well!
I currently own
Project Diva F
Project Diva F 2nd
Project Mirai DX
 Project Diva X

Project Diva Future Tone

They are all nice if you want to just sit down and play a rhythm game. Project Diva X has more of a story line to it. My least favorite out of these was Project Mirai DX but I think it was because I just don’t enjoy that style of game on a Nintendo DS.

And there are so many amazing figures out there! I have a few myself!

I bought this and absolutely love it! I’d love for a Luka one too though!

Another thing I love is that every year there are new designs for Snow Miku and Racing Miku.

There are different styles of Nendoroids as well.

In all honesty, my favorite Vocaloid is Megurine Luka but there are many songs by other Vocaloids that I enjoy very much as you can see by this list of Miku songs ^.^ I do enjoy many more songs done with the Hatsune Miku Vocaloid program so this is just a short list. I hope to share some more of my favorites with you in the future!

Thanks for reading (and watching!)

Video Game Bullying

There is something I want to talk about in the world of gaming. I covered this more-so in the anime world but it happens in gaming as well: bullying.

I know this is going to sound like whining to hardcore gamers but what I have to say I feel is important for those who enjoy gaming but cannot waste their entire time leveling all of their jobs and classes to max level and for those who really want to play RPGs for the story.

There are a few examples I have that I
want to tell you about before I get started.

One night some of my friends and I decided to run a dungeon needed to proceed in the story quests in Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn. Now, most dungeons up to this point were 4 people so it was very easy for some of us to get together and knock those ones out. However, this particular dungeon called for 8 people. Due to real life situations like jobs and school as well as time zones, we could not get a total of 8 of us online at one time so to progress in the story we were required to run the dungeon with a few people we didn’t know.

When you run a dungeon and at least one person has never run that dungeon before, it alerts the entire party that there are people in the group that have not run the dungeon, which means that they have cut scenes to watch to be able to follow the story.

If I remember correctly, we had also informed some of the players of that and stated politely that we would like to watch them. We were told to skip the cut scenes and watch them later as they rushed on without us. They went so far ahead of us that when we finally finished the cut scenes they were already battling the dungeon bosses and we were no longer able to enter the area in which the fight was happening.

We were still credited with completion of the dungeon, but it seemed extremely hurtful and rude that these people couldn’t take a few minutes to wait for us to complete the cut scenes.

When the last fight was over, we were greeted with messages like, “Eww, 20 min run,” indicating that they were disgusted with the fact that it took us a whole 20 minutes to complete the dungeon when we were given, I can’t remember if it’s 60, 80, or 90 minutes to complete it.

Also, this happened not once, but twice in the same dungeon and we also informed the players the second time around that we would like to watch the cut scenes.

The second time around, we only had 2 people that were strangers to us and when they rushed into the boss fight, they were not strong enough to complete it so we were forced to exit the dungeon and some of our group were penalized with not being able to re-enter the dungeon to try again for 30 minutes or so. This person decided to defend themselves by saying if we had asked to watch the cut scenes, they wouldn’t have done that. The problem is, we had asked.

The next instance was when I decided to try doing trials, or basically just boss fights, without going through an entire dungeon, while my friends couldn’t be online.

I died several times and was mocked because my health was lower than other players. I do not spend my time earning digital in game money so I can have the best of the best armor. I play for the fun of it and my armor has never caused me any issues before, even in higher level dungeons.

The next issue in this trial was that one player told me to pull the monster off of him by luring it to myself. I tried to do this several times, but then he would attack it again, causing it to go after him before he could be healed. He then found it appropriate to start screaming at me in the chat about it and shortly after, I was just kicked from the party.

The problem is, some people don’t know all of the right combinations, or how others prefer to play. It doesn’t take very long to speak in the chat and work everything out before heading right into battle.

More recently, I’ve been playing Overwatch and some days, the players are so disrespectful and salty that I just have to turn the game off. I don’t know how many times I’ve had gold damage and eliminations, or really high healing and I’ve still been cussed out, called names and yelled at. It’s just not necessary. It goes back to the saying you learn when you’re young, “If you can’t say anything nice, then don’t say anything at all.” These people hurt the team more by wasting the time to type up insults or to hold down the voice chat key to scream into the mic.

I have had very good experiences as well, so not all players are like this. However, to the ones that are, do you realize that you are bullying those of us who can’t spend all of our time in game? Those of us who don’t have a huge memory and cannot memorize all of the moves for every class? Those of us who may have a child sitting in our lap?

A gamer can be anyone. I’ve seen very young gamers, I’ve seen very old gamers, I’ve seen single gamers, dating gamers, married gamers. I’m married and have a 4 year old at home and I enjoy playing games. But when I am treated like that it makes me so sad to think that someone out there has to bully me because they don’t know how to take a moment to properly communicate in a nice way.

All I am asking is that the next time you game with random players, take the time, say hello, ask how they are, and discuss your battle plan. The person you are playing with may be coming back from a hiatus and may have forgotten some of the controls or moves, they may not know them all, they may have a baby running around or may need to step away for a moment to take care of that child.

Just because they have a life doesn’t mean they shouldn’t get to sit down and enjoy themselves as well. So please be kind when gaming. It may seem competitive, but it will not affect your life to have your character die and need to be resurrected, only your pride.

Thanks for reading and happy gaming!
