Favorite Female Supporting Character

Hi, hi! Welcome to day 18 of the Anime Challenge! Today’s topic is: Favorite Female Supporting Character!

There are so many great supporting characters out there (sometimes better than the main character!). I’m also horrible with choosing favorites. I feel though, that recently, there is one female supporting character that stands out to me.

This precious cinnamon roll. Uraraka Ochaco is not only adorable but she’s a dedicated friend, classmate and daughter.

Uraraka is so strong physically, mentally and emotionally and I did not expect to see such strength when I first saw her in My Hero Academia.

I think part of the reason I like Uraraka so much is because she reminds me a lot of Kushieda Minori from Toradora. No matter how down she may be, she’s always there to support and cheer on her friends.

And come on, her zero gravity quirk is amazing!

Mario Day

Today, March 10th, is observed as Mario day. This is because March 10th abbreviated spells out Mario! (Mar10)

I’m sure this applies to many of you as well, but I grew up with Mario. My introduction into the gaming world was through Super Mario World.

Since then I’ve played so many other Mario games. In fact, I just recently completed Super Mario Odyssey. It was such a good game and I love that there’s still so much to do after finishing the main story.

I would say thought that my absolute favorite Mario games are Super Mario Bros 2 and 3, Super Mario World and Odyssey. There are a few out there that I still haven’t played though. I’ll get to them someday I’m sure. 😅

The fun thing about Mario games is that there isn’t a whole lot of reading to do so it’s fun to sit down and play but at the same time it’s easy enough for a kid just learning to read to play. (I used video games a lot to help me learn to read.)

Mario is such a fun and iconic character. He’s been to so many different worlds and seen so many different things. No matter how many times he’s had to fight Bowser, he still keeps going back to do it again too.

That little plumber dude works hard.

What was your first Mario game? Which one has been your favorite so far? Let me know here or on facebook!

Favorite Male Supporting Character

Hi, hi! Welcome to day 17 of the Anime Challenge! Today’s topic is: Favorite Male Supporting Character!

First, I would like to apologize for the hiatus. Holidays got busy and then flu season came around and just won’t go away!

Now, I’ll get to it! There are  so many fantastic supporting characters in the anime world. One of my favorites though would have to be Abarai Renji from Bleach!

I felt that Renji was a great addition to the cast for comic relief.

He’s not always comical though, he has his serious moments as well. Renji is also an extremely reliable friend. He does his best to cheer Rukia up when she needs it. He also refuses to leave his friends behind no matter how bad his injuries may be.

Anime with the Best Animation

Hi, hi! Welcome to day 16 of the Anime Challenge! Today’s topic is: Anime with the best animation!

There are so many different art styles out there in the anime world and in general. You can often tell which studio handled a certain anime by it’s distinct art style.

But the anime that I think has the best animation is:

No Game No Life

I love this anime not just for it’s art though, but also for it’s characters and story (which was such a cliff hanger! 😐).

No Game No Life has such a unique art style. I’ve only ever seen a very similar art style for one other anime: Comet Lucifer. But even then, the art is not the same at all, just similar in a few areas.

What anime do you think has the best animation? Let me know here or on facebook!

Favorite Anime Animal Sidekick/Pet

Hi, hi! Welcome to day 15 of the Anime Challenge! Today’s topic is: Favorite Anime Animal Sidekick or Pet!

This one is super easy for me! I really enjoy the cats from Sailor Moon and I’d say that Digimon and Pokemon qualify for this too BUT my absolute favorite animal sidekick/pet is Ryo Ohki from the Tenchi series! 😁

Who doesn’t love a cute cat rabbit (cabbit?) that can transform into a spaceship?!

I loved watching Sasami become close to Ryo Ohki. <3

Anime That Never Gets Old

Hi, hi! Welcome to day 14 of the Anime Challenge! Today’s Topic is: Anime that never gets old no matter how many times you re-watch it!

Honestly, a lot of anime that I enjoy I don’t like to re-watch often due to those feels. When I watch something I don’t mind if it makes me cry, but often times I want to relax.

One anime that I can watch over and over (and notice something new each time) is Lucky Star! I love an easy going, slice of life series!

I love the simplicity of Lucky Star as well as the bonds that the friends have. The anime is full of humor and references to other games, anime and manga. I like to go back and re-watch Lucky Star every year or so after I’ve seen and read more and can catch other references.

Izumi Konata reminds me so much of myself. I ALWAYS put off studying and homework (don’t do that).

Lucky Star is just a super fun and easy to relate to anime in my opinion. There’s so much basic life randomness to it.

What’s an anime you can watch over and over?

Anime Character You’re Most Similar To

Hi, hi! Welcome to day 13 of the Anime Challenge! Today’s topic is: Anime character you’re most similar to!

I think this one is a really fun one! I would say I’m a mix between two anime characters. It’s funny though because those characters have completely different personalities.

When it comes to certain people, close friends and my husband, I would say I’m more tsundere and the tsundere character I feel that I relate to the most is Aisaka Taiga from Toradora!

Taiga and I have a lot in common because I also don’t take compliments well and I can get very defensive easily. I also love food but can’t cook well. 😅

The other character I feel that I am most similar to is Kamikita Komari from Little Busters!

No good person likes to see someone feel down. I always do my best to try to make it better for them in any way. Personally, I feel that if you always smile at people, you could make their day and not even know it.

If I’m having a bad day and someone takes just a moment to notice me and to smile at me it makes my day brighter.

Another thing that makes me similar to Komari is our love of sweets! I could seriously just eat candy, cakes, and donuts all day, every day!

Komari is also a bit clumsy and silly and I’m super clumsy and I try to be silly so that everyone around me can have fun.

Do you have any characters you feel that you are similar to?

Saddest Anime Scene

Hi, hi! Welcome to day 12 of the Anime Challenge! Today’s topic is: Saddest Anime Scene! ….wait, what? 😟 Just one!? There is every anime by Key to consider and then some!

As I sit here, looking at this page, I’m going through every sad anime scene I have ever seen and trying to decide which one made me cry the hardest and which one affected me the most.

….This is hard…I cry easily… T_T

I would say one of the saddest scenes I’ve seen is from Plastic Memories. The whole idea of that one is sad, however, there are those few scenes that can hit you like a truck.

This scene actually hit me so hard that I stopped watching it for a while.

Prepare yourself for some feels.

What anime have you seen that you would say has the saddest scene?

Favorite Mech Anime

Hi, hi! Welcome to day 11 of the Anime Challenge! Today’s topic is: Favorite Mech Anime!

So, I’ve only recently started branching out the genres of anime to watch. I’ve only ever seen one mech anime and it was a long time ago, but I loved it!

The Big O!

**This post may contain affiliate links. You can find the disclosure policy here.**

Roger Smith works together with an android, R. Dorothy Wayneright as a negotiator in Paradigm City. Paradigm City’s residents lost their memories 40 years prior and is now run by a massive corporation. When necessary, Roger Smith calls upon ‘The Big O’.

It’s honestly been so long since I’ve seen it, but if I had to quickly describe it to someone, I would say it’s like a Batman anime except Batman has cute android and a giant mech.

I’m totally going to go watch this one again!

What is your favorite mech anime?

Net Neutrality (It’s a Big F–ing Deal!)

Hi, hi! First off, for my post today, I would like to say that I’m not usually political unless it’s around very close friends and family. However, with the United States FCC (Federal Communications Commission) upcoming plan to end Net Neutrality, which goes up for FCC vote in early December, I feel this post is very important. If this were to pass, it would affect not only the United States of America but every other country as well.

Net Neutrality

What is it?

Net Neutrality means that ISPs (Internet Service Provider) and the governments have to regulate most of the internet without discrimination. This also means that they are not allowed to specifically charge users different rates for accessing content, websites, platforms, applications, means of communication, etc. So, ISPs are not allowed to block, slow down or charge money for access to specific websites and content.

There have been many instances of providers being caught restricting users access to things like that company’s rivals and throttling, which means it was being slowed, when users tried to use things like Netflix and YouTube.

What Getting Rid of Net Neutrality Means

The possibility of losing Net Neutrality means that ISPs would have the ability legally to block any websites or content that they don’t want their users to have access to, it would hurt competition because content and applications advertising an ISPs rival can easily be blocked, and the internet could even be split up into packages much like television packages. Basically, pay to access specific sites.

Why It Should Matter To You

Internet Service Providers could potentially be able to do all of the above which would already hurt competitors of companies, but when you really dig down and think about it, it can do so much worse.

Let’s toss aside the whole “internet packages” idea for a moment and just focus on ISPs blocking ability. Let’s say you’ve got an important paper due for University and you have already picked your topic but you need some info that you can only access online. If it’s something controversial or something your ISP doesn’t like, you won’t be able to access it.

Hurting students isn’t an arguement for keeping Net Neutrality that I’ve seen yet but just looking at all of the powers that this could potentially give ISPs, it seems very realistic.

Going back to the “internet packages” idea, another issue I foresee is that it would absolutely crush people who run any kind of business online. Take for instance; you work at a job, it’s enough to pay your bills but you can only afford one internet package and you opt to go with one that, say, lets you communicate with your family and friends but doesn’t include something like Etsy. Those people running things like Etsy shops would be out of a job quickly.

There’s already an unemployment issue in the United States. It’s gone down a lot in recent years, but take away the ability for people to be able to reach out and sell their products to anyone in the world and so many people would be out of a job. That idea doesn’t even apply solely to the US. I’ve seen many UK run Etsy shops while browsing the site. Take away their business from many Americans and those people have also lost out on income that they’ve worked hard for.

That’s just a smaller portion of it. Eventually it would start to affect singers and actors/actresses as well for the same reasons. People would stop listening to music because the streams would be slow or blocked and people would stop watching a lot of television and movies because things like Netflix would be throttled.

If an ISP is able to block things they dislike, that easily opens the pathway for companies to exercise an agenda and become a lot more involved and more manipulative politically than they already are.

The most important reason why it matters, however, is that it scraps the United States First Amendment.

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

Restricting access to online content throws out freedom of speech and freedom of the press because if an ISP doesn’t like it, they just block it. It’s as  simple as that. With the US being a country that thrives of patriotism and being a “free country”, allowing something like this to happen would quickly make this country oppressed.

Ways in which this could be used to infringe upon first amendment rights specifically could include things like allowing the government to control and silence political activism in non-violent ways. They would be able to do it quietly, behind closed doors with no one there to record what is going on. Even if someone were to do that, they could just block that as well.

It could be used to allow politicians with more power and money to hide the websites and articles that are pro their opponent as well as allowing them to be able to just hide any viewpoints or opinion articles that they don’t like or agree with.

There is already a monopoly on internet services as it is. In many places you can be limited to just a few choices and sometimes there is only one option for an ISP. Letting them have even more power would just be ludicrous.

What Can I Do About it?

Over and over I’ve heard:

I don’t need to vote. My vote doesn’t matter.

I don’t need to contact my representative, they don’t care anyway.

But here’s the thing, whether or not they care about a person or a person’s ideals specifically, they all care about THE VOTES! If a representative gets enough calls or emails telling them that the people they’re representing do not want them to get rid of Net Neutrality, they’re eventually going to listen because they want to keep their position. Piss enough people off and you get voted out.

This not only applies to your representatives but to organizations as well. If they are nagged enough they know that people are willing to fight back and it could also potentially compromise an organization or company’s ability to gain assistance or get what they want passed through congress.

So, what you can do as an American to stop this is to rally, spread the word, make phone calls or send emails to your representatives. Educate your friends and family on the issues and encourage them to do the same.

What you can do as a non-American is spread the word on social media, it will make its way to where it needs to be seen, if you have friends in America, show your concern and encourage them to contact their representatives.

If Net Neutrality gets voted out and these ideas are implemented, I could potentially lose contact with many of my overseas friends and that is NOT OKAY!

You can voice your opinion to the FCC at this number: 888-225-5322. So please, if you care about anything online like bloggers, youtubers, social media, your favorite artist, etc. Please take just a few minutes out of your day to make a call or send an e-mail. Thank you so much for sticking through this long post! If we all work together, we can save Net Neutrality!
